Your Wedding Ceremony Checklist

To marry in Australia, notification of your intention to do so must be lodged one month before the day of your ceremony (one month and one day) with a Civil Marriage Celebrant. If this is not done it is not possible to marry unless you get a shortening of notice. If this is required, please contact me to find out how.

Similarly, you must be over 18 years of age, otherwise permission is required by the Courts.

Must do:

  • You need a date, time, venue/location and celebrant.
  • It is important for me to know the:
    • Date and preferred time you are seeking to marry.
    • Venue / Location - It is important that you book your venue/location for the wedding ceremony. If you are marrying in a public open space such as the beach or a park then you will need permission from the local Shire. See my Links page for forms for the Gold Coast, Tweed and Byron Shires.

Contact me at any time to find out my availability on 0413 519 830 or use the online form.

Once these things are in place it is a good idea to contact and book other wedding service providers for Flowers, Cakes, Hair and Make-Up etc.

Information/documentation required:

(All documents need to be original or certified copies)

  • A Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form is to be completed in CAPITAL LETTERS and black ink.
  • If you were born in Australia you will need your birth certificate.
  • If you were born overseas your birth certificate or overseas passport (if your birth certificate is not in English you will need a certified translation. Refer to the Yellow pages - Translations/Interpreters)
  • If you have been previously married a Divorce (previously known as the Decree Absolute) or Death certificate is required.

Each marriage is different therefore other documents may be required. If this is the case, you will be advised of this during our discussions.
