Wedding Ceremonies
My role is to create a personal ceremony that represents your unique relationship.
Firstly, I meet with you, the Bride and Groom, to gain an understanding of your relationship, so that I may tailor the ceremony exactly to your requirements. I will provide you with options for your ceremony, music, poem and reading suggestions and also discuss alternative wedding rituals that are now available, such as sand, hand-fasting and candle-lighting ceremonies, to name a few.
A Civil Wedding Ceremony is held outside of a church and has no religious bearing, and can incorporate faith of any denomination, by including spiritual readings or blessings.
In the lead up to your wedding day, I will conduct a rehearsal if you wish, so that we can ensure the day runs according to the plan we have prepared. On the day of your wedding, I will welcome your guests and assist in assembling the guests and wedding party.
It is part of my professional service to smoothly guide you through the ceremony, signing of all documentation and certificates, and finally present you to your family and friends as newlyweds.
After your marriage, I will register your marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages. I am a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant, qualified to conduct your wedding ceremony anywhere in Australia, according to Australian laws.
Baby Naming / Thanksgiving Ceremonies
A naming ceremony is an ideal way of celebrating the birth of a new baby. Many couples feel that it is appropriate to have a special occasion to celebrate the birth of a baby that can be shared with their family and friends. They can also be used to celebrate adoptive children and step children becoming part of a new family.
The event is a dignified and formal way to:
- welcome the child into the family unit
- announce the names that have been chosen for the child (and possibly the reasons behind the choice of names)
- make promises and commitments to nurture and support the child through to their adult life
- choose other adults and family members who are prepared to promise a special supportive relationship to the child (for example, Mentor/guardian or Godparent)
Any parent can arrange a naming ceremony, whether they are married or not and irrespective of spiritual, religious or cultural backgrounds.
A certificate of the ceremony will be signed and presented during the ceremony. It should be noted however that neither the naming ceremony nor any documents issued as part of the proceedings has any legal status.
Renewal of Marriage Vows
This ceremony is for any married couple wishing to reaffirm the tremendous love that has matured and deepened with the passing of years. Often these ceremonies are associated with a special wedding anniversary, but the ceremony is just as appropriate for couples at any stage of marriage.
The Renewal of Marriage Vows Ceremony is a perfect opportunity for couples who have been married abroad to share their celebration with family and friends when they return.
It is sometimes particularly relevant to those who have been through a difficult period which has put a strain on their relationship, but having overcome this, they wish to celebrate with a renewed commitment to their marriage.
Some couples also use a Renewal Of Marriage Vows Ceremony to celebrate the fact that a partner has overcome a serious illness.
Renewal of Marriage Vows ceremony not only provides the married couple with an opportunity to reaffirm their love and commitment, but it also provides their families with a wonderful opportunity to become involved.
Whilst this ceremony has no legal effect it is a public statement by a couple of their continuing affection, love and commitment to each other. Couples will need to produce a copy of their original marriage certificate when booking a ceremony.
Any married couple may arrange a Renewal of Marriage Vows Ceremony.
The couple can be of any age and be married for any length of time.
A Renewal of Marriage Vows Certificate will be presented on the day.
Partnership and Commitment Ceremonies
Partnership and Commitment Ceremonies are for those who wish to celebrate their love, dedication and formal commitment to each other without undergoing a legal marriage or cannot marry for legal reasons.
You can elect for a ceremony with guests or for a private occasion with just the couple in attendance. This is the ceremony of choice for people wishing to formalise their commitment in a ceremony that is not legally binding.
This ceremony is similar to a wedding ceremony without the legal implications and is therefore ideal for same sex couples. A Partnership and Commitment certificate will be presented on your special day.
Other Ceremonies
I also offer the following services:
- Blessings/official celebrations (house, property, business, etc)
- Coming of Age Ceremonies such as 18th or 21st
